5 Tips For Keeping Your Pool Clean Year-Round
You’ve invested a lot of time and money into your pool, so you want to keep it in great shape year around. Here are some great tips for keeping your pool clean, and ready for use every day. After all, routine maintenance is the best way to minimize the need for chemicals and additives.
5 tips for keeping your pool sparkling clean:
1. Keep it covered
Remember to cover it when it’s not in use, especially if you live where the winter months bring leaves, snow, ice, and freezing rain. This will keep bugs, debris, dirty water, and dirt out of your pool.
2. Keep it clean
It’s a good idea to clean out the skimmer basket at least once a week. In the spring and fall months, you may want to do it even more frequently. You also want to check for debris inside the pump every couple of weeks – just be sure you turn off the pump first. Also, clean the filters every 1-2 months, or sooner, depending on the pool’s water clarity.
3. Check the water level
Each week it’s a good idea to check the water level of your pool and add water when needed. If you’re not sure what the water level should be, feel free to contact us and we’ll let you know. Also, if you clean along the water line, it will reduce build-up from accumulating.
4. Circulate your pool
In order to maintain the correct chemical balance in your pool, it’s a good idea to circulate your pool. If you run the pump for 8-10 hours a day, it will move the water around and maintain its critical chemical balance.
5. Check the Chlorination
If you don’t have a salt water pool, and use chlorine, be sure to check the chlorine dispenser weekly to make sure it’s working properly, and is stocked with chlorine. You can also monitor your pool’s chlorine levels to ensure any problems are caught early on.
