1. Skim and Scrub

This is an easy one. Depending on your climate and how much vegetation you have near your pool, some will need to do this more often than others. But it’s very important to keep your pool clean, debris-free, and looking good.

2. Be Kind to your Filter

Your pool filter is necessary to keep debris, dirt and other unwanted things out of your pool. Roughly every month you will want to backwash your filter system. Every week, you will want to clean out your filter basket.

3. Maintain a Proper Balance of Chemicals

You should test your pool water once a week. You can buy a testing kit at the store or have a professional do it for you. Either way, it’s important to maintain a proper balance of chemicals in order to keep your pool water clear and free of residue.

4. Check your Water Level

The water level in your swimming pool will naturally fluctuate depending on the weather. For this reason, you’ll need to pay attention. Ideally, you want the water level halfway up the opening of the skimmer. If you need to add water or take water out, make sure to re-test the chemicals when you’re finished.

5. Keep your Pool Deck Clean

Power wash that pool deck! Keeping the areas surrounding your pool are almost as important as the pool itself.
